Robert C. Merath, 81 East Troy, died peacefully December 6, 2006 at Holton Manor Elkhorn. He was born November 4, 1925 to Irvin J.Merath Sr. and Katherine(Zilavy) Merath in Milwaukee, Wi(Pigsville). He schooled in Milwaukee and served in the Navy and Army during WWII. He married Lawana Jean Tongay on November 27, 1945 in Missouri. Bob was a Milwaukee Police Officer for 5 1/2 years then worked as a mechanic before he and his family moved to East Troy. He became a Police Officer in 1956 for East Troy and then Chief of Police serving a total of 28 years in East Troy. Bob and his wife Jean were also caretakers of Booth Lake Memorial Park for 25 years. He retired in 1985 at the age of 59. He was an East Troy School District Bus Driver for decades. He was a member of the VFW and formerly served on the Village Board for East Troy. He was an avid sportsman especially enjoying deer hunting and fishing and enjoyed Polka music. Bob's passion in life was being surrounded by family and friends. Bob is survived by children Darrel(Brenda) Merath, Vickie(Don) Stobber, Shawn(Bonnie) Merath, 6 granddaughters, and 2 grandsons, 3 great grandsons, and 3 great granddaughters, 2 brothers, Irvin Jr., John(Tirzah), sister Judy, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother and his wife. A visitation will be held Sunday December 10, 2006 from 4pm to 7pm, and Monday December 11 from 9:30am to 11am. A funeral service will follow Monday December 11, 2006 at 11am all at legacy Funeral Services 2974 Main St East Troy, Wi 53120. Interment to follow at St Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
