Obituary for Jerry L. McFarlane

Jerry Lee McFarlane "Mac" entered into eternal life on June 6, 2019 at the age of 91.
Jerry was born on February 16, 1928, to Robert and Mabel (nee Frank) McFarlane at the family farm in Saylesville, WI. He grew up in Saylesville, the youngest of three children. Jerry was united in marriage to Grace Palenshus on November 12, 1949. Grace preceded him in death. Jerry married Judith Steele on December 23, 1960. He owned Mac’s Shell in Mukwonago from 1962-1983. After selling the station, Jerry worked for the Mukwonago School District retiring in 1993. Jerry enjoyed his years at Mac’s Shell giving first-class service to his customers and help to those who asked. Many high school students met at the station after school where they enjoyed ice cream bars Jerry gave them as they waited for a ride home. Jerry also served the Village of Mukwonago as a volunteer fireman for over 25 years. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine and the U.S. Army. Jerry enjoyed traveling, boating on Lake Beulah, working in his yard, and spending time with his family. One of Jerry’s favorite things to do in his retirement was serving as the first greeter to the faith family of St. James United Methodist Church in East Troy. His smiling face and gentle nature brought smiles to the faces of the members as he opened the door to the church and invited his faith family into worship. He loved golfing and was a member of the Walworth County Golf League. Jerry will be remembered as a hard-working, caring person who went out of his way to help his friends and neighbors. Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy, of 58 years; his six children, Gary (Mary) McFarlane, Mary (Fred) Schwartz, Jill (Pat) Carrick, Julie (Ted) Lemke, Jean McFarlane, Robert (Rachel) McFarlane; six grandchildren; Jesse (Jamie) McFarlane, Meg (Joe) Schauer, Connor Carrick, Danielle and Dana Lemke, Taylor McFarlane; 4 great-grandchildren; Aiden and Linnea McFarlane, Stoxen and Fletcher Schauer. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, his sister, Alice Schroeder, and his brother, Roy McFarlane.
