Obituary for Rita A Koch/Leasure

After turning 87 years old, Rita Ann Koch-Leasure (nee Forster) passed away peacefully on September 25th, 2019. Born in Richardton, North Dakota on September 9th, 1932, to parents Eleanor (Hoerner) Forster and William Forster, she grew up on the family farm with siblings, William, Norbert, Gordon, Fritz (Fred) and Mary Ellen.
She was joined in marriage with Leo E. Koch on December 9, 1950 in Georgia where Leo was stationed at Fort Benning. Upon discharge, the couple relocated to Wisconsin where they raised six children, Cynthia, James, Renae, Kenneth, John, and Leonita . True to her giving and generous spirit, upon her brother Bill’s passing, Rita became “Mom” to her two nephews (Steven and Joseph Forster) and niece (Sheril Forster) and kept in close contact with their two older sisters (Sandra and Linda Forster) who reside in Minnesota. Welcoming these additions to her family was another reflections of the love that Rita readily shared with those around her.
Rita’s many talents included sewing, quilting, knitting, cooking, cake decorating, bowling, reading and homemaking. Summers were spent canning and freezing vegetables from the many gardens and making German noodles from scratch with her sister Mary and mother Eleanor. She volunteered her time and energies to many of the activties and organizations of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was also an was an active member of the local “Mother’s Club” where she gathered with friends and neighbors while making crafts for the county fair. Many of these talents she lovingly handed down to children who carry on these traditions with their own individual hobbies.
After retiring from the US Post Office and the passing of Leo, Rita married Harold Leasure on September 11, 1999 and became an intricate and cherished member of the Leasure family where numerous grandchildren, great great grandchildren and family celebrations were enjoyed. The couple spent their time camping and traveling and visiting with her children and grandchildren and keeping in touch with their extended families. On Sundays during football season she could be found cheering on her beloved Green Bay Packers while dressed in green and gold.
Rita is survived by her children, Cyndi Walsh, James Koch, Renae Dunbar, Kenneth Koch (Kimberly), John Koch (Gloria), Leonita Loomans (David), Sheril Oldenburg ( John), Joseph Forster ( Lisa), Steven Forster ( Jean), Sandra Forster, and Linda Hill.
She is preceeded in death by parents, William and Eleanor Forster, brothers – Norbert, William, Gordon. Fritz Forster and sister Mary Ellen Garber, husbands Leo E Koch and Harold Leasure.
The Legacy Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements for Rita’s celebration of life and services will be held at St. Peter’s Church in East Troy, WI on Thursday, October 3rd. Visitation from 1 - 2:30 with mass following. In leiu of flowers, the family is requesting bequests be made to St. Peter's School scholarship fund.
Rita’s memory will live on in all of the lives that she has so tenderly touched throughout her life.
